Sunset Pilates Studio Bali Indonesia June 2008
An International Pilates Experience
Pilates goes international. Spending a holiday on an exotic island
is never a holiday from my Pilates workout. I own a wonderful
STOTT PILATES ™ based studio on the
beautiful island of Maui. But traveling frequently to offer
Pilates holidays worldwide is also part of my work outside the
studio. Here’s my latest great find on the tropical island
of Bali Indonesia
Awaking early in a simple studio in Kuta Bali I get dressed
for my workout. New styles of Pilates Maui
Logo wear are my preference for the workout. Putting on the
designer Tee and matching pants, made here
in Bali, assures cool comfort during the workout.
Mangostien, Rambutan, and the finest Mango make a perfect light
meal prior to leaving. Beep, Beep, the taxi has arrived to take
me towards the Legian area of Bali. Minutes later we park in front
of the wonderful world of Sunset Pilates. Being another STOTT
PILATES ™ studio, I know that a quality workout with attention
to safety and proper movement and alignment is assured.
The entrance to Sunset Pilates is adorned with traditional colorful
Balinese offerings. The unique Hindu following of Bali make these
offerings to assure peace and safety. Reception room decor is
classic Bali designed furniture with many batik covered pillows
for comfort. Overall decor is simple yet a fully equipped spacious
open room design. Group classes begin on the hour with Mat, four
Reformers, Cadillac and chair.
Gemma our, STOTT PILTES ™ certified instructor starts class
on the Mat with attention to “warming the abdominals”,
“OK, mine are on fire now!” A few stretches and our
group of three students heads for the Reformers. Our intermediate
workout begins on our knees for chest expansion exercises. Sweat
beads down my face. I am sure happy I hand towels are provided.
We continue working all parts of our bodies with wonderful cuing
and corrections as we move. It feels good to be getting my much
needed quality Pilates workout. Class ends with final stretches
on the Cadillac. I am energized with a bit of wobble in my legs
departing this extraordinary Pilates experience on the paradise
island of Bali.
